CapSnap: AI Video Captions

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

1. Who we are

CapSnap: AI Video Captions (“the App”) is operated by RichX Software Solutions. We take your privacy seriously: the App is designed so your videos, audio, and captions never leave your device while you use it.

2. On-device processing

Everything the App does to your media — extracting audio, transcribing speech using an on-device speech model, translating captions, styling, and rendering the final video — happens locally on your device. We do not upload, copy, stream, or store your video frames, audio, transcripts, or finished captioned videos. The processed video stays on your device until you choose to share or save it.

3. Information we collect

  • Anonymous crash reports and stability diagnostics via Google Firebase Crashlytics. These include device model, OS version, app version, and the stack trace of an error. They do not include any video content, audio, transcript text, filenames, or personal identifiers.
  • Anonymous usage events via Google Firebase Analytics (e.g. “app opened”, “transcription started”, “export completed”). These help us understand which features are used and prioritise improvements. They contain only feature-level metadata such as event names, approximate render times, and aggregate counts — never the content of your captions, the names of your videos, or any identifying information about you.
  • Remote configuration via Google Firebase Remote Config. The App downloads a small set of configuration values (for example which subscription screen to show and the free daily export limit). This is a one-way download of settings; it does not send us any information about you or your content.
  • Subscription and purchase data — handled by Apple and by Adapty, our subscription-management provider, as described in section 4.
  • Locally stored preferences — the onboarding completion flag, your style preferences (font, color, reveal mode, animations, linger), your cached subscription status, your daily export count, the project list, and your captioned videos. These are stored in the App's sandbox on your device only and never leave it.

4. Subscriptions and payments

CapSnap offers an optional paid subscription (CapSnap Premium). All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your name, payment-card details, or Apple Account credentials.

To present subscription options and to confirm whether you have an active subscription, the App uses Adapty (Adapty Tech Inc.) as a data processor acting on our behalf. When you view the subscription screen, make a purchase, or restore purchases, Adapty may process: a random per-install identifier generated for your app instance, the App Store transaction and receipt data needed to validate the purchase, your subscription status and expiry, and technical information such as device model, OS version, app version, coarse region, and IP address (used to route the request). Adapty does not receive your videos, audio, transcripts, captions, name, email, or Apple Account login. We use this only to unlock Premium features and keep your subscription status in sync across a reinstall or a new device. See Adapty's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy for details.

5. Information we do NOT collect

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifying information.
  • Your videos, audio, frames, transcripts, or any content derived from them.
  • Your location (beyond the coarse region Apple/Adapty use for billing and purchase validation).
  • Your contacts or social media accounts.
  • Your Apple Account login, payment-card details, the advertising identifier (IDFA), or any cross-app tracking identifier. We do not track you across apps or websites.

6. Permissions the App requests

  • Photo / video library access — to let you pick the video you want to caption.
  • Photos library write access — only when you tap “Save”, to write the captioned video back to your device.
  • Microphone access — only if you choose to record a new video directly inside the App. Not used for processing existing videos.

You may revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's system settings.

7. On-device speech model

CapSnap uses an open-source speech-recognition model (WhisperKit / OpenAI Whisper) that runs locally on your device. The model ships bundled inside the App, so no download is required and no audio is ever sent anywhere — transcription is fully offline. Translation uses Apple's on-device translation framework; language packs are downloaded from Apple when needed, but your caption text is not sent to us.

8. Third-party services

We use Google Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics, and Remote Config) to keep the App stable, improve it, and configure the subscription experience; Adapty to present and validate subscriptions; and Apple to process payments. These providers process only the limited data described in sections 3 and 4. Review Google's Firebase privacy information, Adapty's privacy policy, and Apple's privacy policy for details. We do not use any advertising network or cross-app tracking SDK.

9. Data retention

Anonymous crash and analytics data is retained by Firebase for the defaults set by Google (typically up to 14 months for event-level data). Subscription records are retained by Adapty and Apple for as long as needed to manage your subscription and meet legal and accounting obligations. Locally stored preferences, projects, and captioned videos remain on your device until you delete them from within the App or uninstall it.

10. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will remove it.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the limited data described in sections 3 and 4, and to object to its processing. Because we collect only anonymous diagnostic and event data and subscription data tied to random per-install identifiers, individual-level access requests are generally not technically possible from our side. You can stop all analytics and diagnostic collection by uninstalling the App, and you can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
